A Forties Inspired Sailor Dress: OOlong Pattern Revision

I know these photos are totally silly ! But it was fun.

This is the sailor dress I finished two weeks late for the Sew Weekly Challenge. Well, I did go on a road trip last week to Oregon so I had to work out the kinks when I got back. I used Collette's Oolong pattern but cut it in a size 0 because I was using a stretch double knit and wanted it to be clingy like the Stop Staring Dresses I wrote about in an older post. I wanted to make a forties style dress but in a clingy knit like the dresses in my post and shown below here. I took it in a lot in the skirt, shortened it, changed the sleeves, and lowered the neckline. I added bias self binding to the neckline and sleeves too. I also didn't gather up the bodice in center. So it can be done! When sewing a knit in a pattern not designed for knits just make it up in about 2 sizes smaller than your normal size.
