As a family of four, we find that 6 laying hens provides a more than adequate number of eggs for our needs....and they ARE the best eggs on earth! I was always under the impression that you had to have a rooster to have eggs. Now maybe hubby will let us have a few chickens. Not that we'd eat the the chickens.
